World Book Day 2018
Wow! What an incredible Day World Book Day was on Friday!
At Greenfields we believe that all children have the right to read and should have exposure to a variety of texts. We also feel strongly that children should develop a love of reading. World Book Day is one of the ways that we promote a love of reading.
The day started with a bang during Celebration Assembly where four lucky children were named best dressed. Well done to the following winners for their amazing effort in their costumes:
EYFS—Sophia as Gangsta Granny
KS1—Charlotte as the Ladybird from What The Ladybird Heard
Lower KS2—Harry as Bruce from Matilda
Upper KS2—Ethan as Gangsta Granny
Let’s not forget Mrs Guy for winning best dressed adult for her uncanny take on The Queen of Hearts.
Following the assembly all children took part in a variety of engaging activities associated with a famous book. This included making potions inspired by Winnie the Witch, baking blueberry flapjacks for Willy Wonka’s factory, searching for Where’s Wally, attending The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and so much more.
The children got to experience a range of texts and had such a fun day as a result.
Miss Kenny was very relieved that the ‘blueberry effect’ only lasted for one day.
