Back to the Roman Times
Year Four had THE BEST day yesterday! They had a History Off The Page visit to lead a full Roman day and, boy, did it bring our History learning off the page!
They were Romans for the day- just check out some of the costumes!
They entered Roman shops to make traditional Roman items, including wax tablets with secret messages, mosaic tiles, perfumes, pots and lamps. Messengers delivered news during the shopping sessions of the Romans advancement on the Celts, let by Boudicca.
During the afternoon, they separated into soldiers, enslaved people, dancers and thespians (actors) to prepare our contributions for our traditional Roman feast. As they feasted, they enjoyed incredible Roman dances and plays and a display by the rather disciplined soldiers, led by Mr Thorne! The slaves did a marvellous job of preparing and serving the food. They especially enjoyed toasting thier successful day with their goblets full of 'wine'!
What an incredible day of learning- in the words of Oscar - 'THIS WAS THE BEST DAY EVER!'.
