It's a Phonics Frenzy!
Year One are going wild for reading. They love their phonics lessons and learning to read so many new words. The children are all trying to be fluent readers, just like the wonderful Reading Ambassadors. They enjoy phonics so much that they are intrinsically motivated - something we are learning about this term as part of our PiXL characteristics.
Here is what some children had to say:
"it's very fun and helps our brains get so much bigger!"
"it is very important to pay attention because phonics makes you smart."
"Reading is my favourite thing to do. I love Elmer so much."
It's impossible to decide who loves reading more: Fred the frog, the children or the teachers! Year 1 have a challenge for you... Can you finish a long story in a week? You will have to read everyday to finish it.
