Year 6 Leavers Special
Thursday 16th July 2020 was the day we said goodbye to our Year 6 children. We had a brilliant week: preparing decorations and planning performances for the Leavers Assembly; writing, drawing and making items to put into a 2020 time-capsule; toasting marshmallows and playing games (The Pirate Game was a big hit!).
The assembly was superb, the area looked stunning with the beautiful decorations made by the children. Each child spoke about their favourite Greenfields memory and what they most looking forward to in secondary school. It was awe inspiring to hear the children’s thoughts and feelings, and to reflect on the great enrichment opportunities the children have had at Greenfields Primary School and Nursery.
Each bubble performed a song or two chosen by them – the songs had meaning for the children and this was demonstrated by their incredible, emotional, and fun performances – memories to treasure! Of course, not all our Year 6s could be at the assembly - but we felt their presence at all times – they were never forgotten! The full event was recorded and the children at home had the opportunity to contribute with their thoughts and feelings.
We also missed Mrs Holdcroft who is currently on maternity leave – I sent her pictures and updates throughout; she is super proud of each and every one of you!
Everyone in Greenfields will miss these incredible children, but we are certain they are well prepared to be successful in secondary school and beyond.
Good luck Year 6, we wish you well for the future!
